What we keep, why we keep it, and how to ask us to let it go.
Last updated 4 October 2026
We go inside people’s homes. That means we hold more about you than most companies do, and we would rather tell you exactly what, in words you can read in one sitting.
What we collect
- When you ask for an estimate
- Your name, your email, and what you tell us about the home: square footage, rooms, bathrooms, condition, pets, and how often you would like us.
- When you write to us
- Your name, your email, your phone if you give it, your town, and your message.
- When you book
- The service address and how we get in. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our site or our records. We see only the last four digits and whether a charge went through.
- During a visit
- The signed checklist, and photos of the work when you have agreed to them. Photos of the inside of your home are only ever taken with your written permission.
Why we keep it
To price your home, to answer you, to show up at the right address on the right day, to charge the amount you agreed to, and to prove what was done if you ever ask. Nothing else.
Who else sees it
Three companies, and only the part each one needs to do its job:
- Stripe handles payments. Your card lives with them, not with us.
- Resend sends the emails you receive from us.
- Supabase stores the records behind this site.
We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not hand it to anyone for advertising. If the law ever required us to give something up, we would tell you unless we were forbidden to.
Photos of your home
Photos are the most personal thing we hold, so they have their own rules. We take them only with your written permission. We keep a private copy as our record of the work whether or not you ask us to show them to you. We never post them, never use them in advertising, and never show them to another client. You can ask us to delete them at any time, and we will, except where we still need one to answer a claim you have made.
How long we keep things
Estimates and messages, two years. Visit records, checklists and photos, three years, which is how long a dispute can reasonably take to appear. Payment records as long as the law requires us to keep them. After that we delete.
What you can ask us for
Write to hello@hicohousehold.com and we will tell you everything we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete it. We answer within thirty days, usually much sooner, and we do not ask you why.
Children
This site is not meant for children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
If this changes
We will change the date at the top and, if the change matters, tell the people it affects by email.
